ISA C8X brings Focusrite’s flagship ISA range to its next evolution: a 26-in, 28-out USB-C audio interface with two ISA preamps and comprehensive analogue and digital I/O, purpose-built for modern recording setups. 

The first ever interface to carry the ISA name, C8X pairs two Lundahl transformer–based ISA preamps — using the same circuitry as the original ISA 110 — with extensive digital control and recall via the front panel or Focusrite Control 2. Each ISA preamp features switchable impedance, balanced inserts, and high-pass filtering, plus new, all-analogue Console and 430 Air modes for added warmth and presence, respectively.

The analogue inputs are rounded out by a further six remote-controllable, ultra-low-noise microphone preamps, each with their own Air and variable Drive modes, plus up to 18 channels of digital inputs via ADAT and S/PDIF.

  • Automatically set your levels: Enable Auto Gain from the front panel or Focusrite Control 2 to adjust all eight preamps in seconds.

 

  • Flagship AD/DA conversion: Record and mix with the same 24-bit/192kHz AD/DA converters as our RedNet range for up to 125dB of dynamic range with 0.00022% THD.

 

  • 12 balanced line outputs: Work in up to 7.1.4, with up to three monitor groups and front-panel or remote switching. Output levels match line-inputs, and outputs 1 and 2 are available on both XLR and TRS.

 

  • Two dedicated class AB headphone outputs: Each with independent level control, extra headroom, and optimised impedance for powerful, detailed playback.

 

  • ADAT, S/PDIF, MIDI, and Word Clock: 16 additional channels available via ADAT for up to 24 channels in total.

Why it matters

ISA C8X marks the evolution of a range that began with Rupert Neve’s original 110 preamp, created for Sir George Martin four decades ago. Since then, the range has grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of engineers through the Studio Console, rack-mounted versions, and on to the more recent ISA One preamp.

  

Until now, there has never been an ISA audio interface. Integrating the warm, Lundahl transformer-based sound the range is renowned for into a modern digital workflow required two different pieces of hardware, along with the associated cost. C8X changes that, bringing a new level of digital control, connectivity, and flexibility to the range.

  

Focusrite's new flagship USB interface retains the original ISA circuitry and sound, but adds new options for tonal sculpting. With C8X, we are introducing all-analogue Console and 430 Air modes, digital control via the front panel and Focusrite Control 2, and enough additional analogue and digital I/O to power even the most complex of setups.
